<tt>Hello All

So has anybody else in the UK (or otherwise) got Okinawa?

I"m in a place called Chenin Village about 20 miles away from the capital
Naha. I"ve heard from my pred who seems lovely. I get to take a speed boat
to a school on an island every wednesday. Sounds like paradise!

Haven"t heard about any other Okinawa bound JETs except for Vince. So come
on, show yourselves! I heard there were gonna be about 50 newbies there this
year!

I"m from Kent and I have also been placed in Kumamoto (in Kumamoto
City) so I"ll see you at the pre-orientation!

Come join us on www.ithinkimlost.com & www.bigdaikon.com and you"ll
find some more people who have been placed there too.... People have
been telling me great things about the prefecture - and we also got
lucky with a ruling that only allows you to work 20 days each month -
so if there are more than 20 working days a particular month you get
the rest off as holiday (around 8-10 extra days off a year). Not bad!

Anyway, see you soon!

Yes I"ve been to Japan twice before (or maybe three times if you
count the stopover on the way to the Philippines). On my two
week trip I bought a rail pass and went all the way down to Kyoto,
Hiroshima and Miyajima. I think i tried to do too much in the
short period I was there. It was exhausting but lots of fun.

Hi Chris,
Good to hear from you. Hang in there as upgrades should
happen very soon. Sounds like you have a lot of teaching and
international experience, so you probably have a good chance.
Take care and good luck with your finals.

I"m in the process of finishing my degree in political science

Yikes!! :) Do you have teaching experience?

Wells...??? Sevenoaks...?? - not sure how well you know the area..)

I"m going to the pre-orientation on the 5th & 6th, Group A (I think
that"s what you mean too - there are only two in London, 5/6 & 7/8
and I think that everyone going down to Kyushu are all in Group A) so
look forward to seeing you there!

Out of interest, why did you choose Kumamoto as your first choice?
Have you spent time there before? I chose Kansai, Kanto and Hokkaido
as my choices and was a little suprised when I found out I was going
to Kumamoto! I used to live near Osaka a long time ago but never
ventured down to Kyushu when I was in Japan - so this is going to be
a real adventure!

Alex

Hey!
No, I think the town which the beer comes from is a different one
near Tokyo.

Good to hear from you Alex, which part of Kent are you from? and
which induction are you attending in London? I"m going to the 6th
and 7th.

Yeah, it does sound like a cool prefecture, can"t wait to hear from
the school so I can get in touch with the current JET there!

<tt>hey,

That"s odd, I"m in Group B.

Yep, know the area, it"s about an hour from where I currently work.

Kumomoto was my first choice as fancied somewhere in the south and
it sounds like a nice area, lots of outdoor things to do.

Who"s going to the reception on Thursday in London?

Does anyone have any idea when we"ll hear from our schools,
apparently we can only make contact with the current JET once we"ve
signed our contracts.

hey guys,
Has anyone else been placed in the Kumomoto prefecture? I have
been
placed in a town called Asahi, but it"s so small I can"t find it on
the map (any ideas of a good online map that will show it"s
location??)

anyone else going to this prefecture or currently there? Really
pleased as it was my first choice :)

Any other Southern UK JETs out there??
