THe following is an e-mail I received on Thursday evening from the S.F. Consulate. Apparently not all S.F. JETS received this memo at the same time, so here it is! Read on:

Dear JET Participant,

Greetings from the JET Program staff here at the Consulate General
of Japan in
San Francisco! Now that we've received your Reply Form and other
we'd like to take a moment to fill you in on our upcoming local
events ...

Although we'll soon send you copies of our JET Program orientation
calendar and
RSVP forms for each of our events by regular mail, please take a
moment to look
over the list of meetings and seminars below to see if you may be
able to fit
them into your schedule over the next few weeks. While none of
these events is
mandatory (with the exception of the Pre-Departure Orientation on
July 30th), we
strongly encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities to
meet alumni
from the program and to better prepare yourself for the challenges
that you may
face living and working in Japan.

If you would like to attend any of these events, please FAX back the
RSVP form
that you will soon receive in the mail, or, because of the late date
that you
are receiving this information, you can also call us here at the
Consulate at
(415) 356-2462, and we can take your RSVP information over the
telephone. We
hope to meet you soon at one of these orientations!

Thanks so much for posting that! I finally called the SF consulate today, just to make sure they know that I'm leaving from SF (I interviewed in OR). When I called Sabrina (I think that was her name) said that the June 2 and 9 workshops were full/almost full... so I guess I'll just wait until the Alumni thing on the 27th!

Does anyone have any idea when the Information Nights are (or if they've sent out information regarding them yet)?

May 26th, 2004, 09:28
I haven't recieved any info. regarding the Information Nites. I'm sure others are still waiting.

I plan to go to the June 27th seminar (the only one that fits with my work schedule!).

Post here again if you find out about the info nites.

As Imade my reservation for the workshop on the 27th, I was told that they plan (translate: will do their best) to have info packets from the Team Teaching and TEFL workshops available. Especially since they (at the JIC) know that the 2 above mentioned workshops are at a difficult time and day for many to attend.
