View Full Version : Garbage bunkers/lockers?

Does anyone have any idea where I can get one of those big plastic garbage lockers? I guess they're actually shaped like a chest, with a simple sliding plastic door on the top designed to keep out crows/tanuki/etc.

I looked at the home center today and they didn't have them as far as I could tell. The closest thing I could find was either a kind of foot locker thing that's designed to hold multiple kerosene tanks or an actual metal shed.

I'm at my wit's end dealing with garbage. I've been doing a bad job lately of taking it out in a timely fashion, but even when I'm on top of things it piles up way faster than the meager collection days allow for.

The situation right now is I always end up with bags of garbage chilling in my kitchen. I can't put them outside as is because the local wildlife would have a field day with them. If I could put them in the bunker, at least they would not be in the way and my kitchen would look less like an episode of Hoarders.

well the one in your picture seems outrageously expensive

can get cheaper options, but this looks like a modified kerosene can container to me

if you have lots of space you could go for something like this, but looks a bit like overkill for your needs

how often do they pick up garbage? and why do you have so much?

Yeah, hmmmm. The top one would be ideal, but that is pretty ridiculous. I don't think I have enough space for the green one. In fact I have to take my garbage to something similar to the green one.

I wouldn't even be having to write this post if they would just unlock it the night before instead of in the morning when I'm struggling to make it out the door on time, much less haul a bunch of garbage down the road in the opposite direction of my workplace.

But I suppose then the post-menopausal chanto hen brigade wouldn't have anything to do except ferment bile for their husbands over piles of laundry and dishes.

They pick up burnable stuff twice a week, but plastic is only once every two weeks. I eat a lot of eggs and other things that come in plastic containers, so it piles up fast. Also I've been going through a bunch of stuff in my house and coming up with a lot more burnable stuff than normal.

I'm not worried about recyclable stuff. I have two days a month for non-PET plastic. Burnable trash is manageable because it has days twice a week, and styrofoam, cans, glass, and PET bottles can be dropped at giant bins in front of a local supermarket. It's the dumb plastic that's the big problem.

Do it at night though, I got a "sumimasen, chotto" once when i tried to do it, the bins say "don't throw rubbish from home in here, thanks"
