How much did you pay to get the ownership changed on your car?

nothing i did it myself (although u need some forms which cost a few hundred yen)

Troof if you're worried ask a JP person at school how much they pay, we may not be getting ripped off that bad.

It is definitely possible that my pred had already paid some amount to get the paperwork sorted before I got there. He had already organised (and inkan'd) all of the paperwork for his end, and had arranged someone to help me finish it off.

what are you talkig about?! yes of course if a dealer does it for you it costs money - you CAN however do it all yourself and it doesnt cost anything..

There was a fee for transfering ownership when I did it (and I did it myself). 8000yen. Or maybe the transfer was free but the new registration was 8000...one of those.

it cost me 500 yen to get the paperwork to transfer our car last year before we left.

I think it cost me about 1500yen total for changing my whiteplate, 800yen of that was for the new numberplate.
