Probably a dumb question but...

Is "I would like to..." subjunctive mood?

How about "Could you/Would you ...?" requests?

fuck knows. google says

Sometimes we may use the conditional auxiliary verbs of could, should, or would to express the same sense.
Subjunctive:I wish he were kinder to me.
Conditional: I wish he would be kinder to me.

Could you/would you requests are using "subjunctive" but really all they are doing is just distancing the author further from the question. It's how English does super politeness.

as for I would like to X is another polite sentences, with a silent "if I could" attached to it.
