I have mine. A copy of it, anyway. My BoE is keeping the original until they file their own tax work before sending it to me. Maybe ask your supervisor if you can have a copy until they're done with it.

Yes, last week, AND I got a large envelope in the mail at my house today, filled with pension info.

It's all in Japanese, ughhh.. Looks like I'm going to have fun at the BOE this week.

Oh and I disagree I do think you flaunt your experience (what little you have of it) and you are definitely a condescending pompous prick.
Oh, and when you feel threatened you play the man and not the ball, like now.

What do you need it for? We don't pay taxes here or at home...

Gotta report your income, regardless of whether you pay tax on it or not.

Anyone from the US who was a first year JET last year or the one before (or any recent-ish years) remember if you did something like an extension to meet the physical presence test of working out of the States long enough to not owe taxes on income made here? I remember having to do it this way last time, but it was a long time ago. Thanks in advance.

Also, nope, nobody has come around with an envelope full of tax goodies yet. I'm OK with that for now.

Awesome, thanks for the tip. I'll do that. My search on just "taxes" turned up all kinds of everything but what I needed.

In case anyone needs it, this is the link to that thread: American Taxes

We all make 3.6 million yen, don't we? Claim that amount, and if for some reason yours varies, file an amendment later on.

I think we need to include a photocopy of the statement, but I'm not sure. At least I needed one for the 1st year taxes!

Lame. Canadians only need to keep statements on file for 3 years in case they're asked to prove x claim (or get audited).

Puma: have you checked with your BoE? Mine is keeping mine until they sort out their own FY tax situation (they did give me a copy though..my stipends put me up to 3.7 million)

Ah Doug why the hell didn't you file taxes?

13) I am a US citizen. I have lived abroad for a number of years and recently realized that I should have been filing US income tax returns. How do I correct this oversight in not having filed returns for these years?

File the late returns as soon as possible, stating your reason for filing late. For advice on filing the returns, you should contact either an IRS representative in one of the four overseas offices or an IRS official who travels through your area (details can be obtained from your nearest US consulate or Embassy). You can also write to the IRS, International Section, PO Box 920, Bensalem, PA 19020-8518.
