    Default academic/holiday schedule for 2012/2013

Greetings everyone. Does anyone have a link to a general holiday schedule for Japanese schools?

I am a new JET for this year. I understand there would be different schedules for different locations, but I want to get an idea when the long breaks are. If anyone can share this I would appreciate it.

It's going to be completely different for every single school. The best you can do is look up when the national holidays are, but be aware that unless you take nenkyuu (which you have approx 20 days of) you'll be working through these 'long breaks' either at your BOE or your base school

    1. You'll most likley get national holidays off, you can find calanders of them anywhere.
    2. Looking at my school calander, there are 3 sets of major holidays left in the 2012-2013 year
      • July 21st - August 26th
      • December 22nd - Janurary 5th
      • March 27th - April 6th.

    3. You most likely won't get school holidays off, you'll be sitting at your BOE office or in a school doing nothing.

Yeah school holidays are periods for feeling guilty about not using the massive swathes of free time to study Japanese or plan lessons.

Japanese school holidays are really for discovering new methods of advanced vegetation whilst appearing at work.

Holidays are times to study or head to the school library to read or nap.
