    Re: State Background Check

Thanks for the advice. I'm not sure if there is enough time for mail, but I could give it a shot. The problem is I would need to include a SASE and no idea how that works internationally. Did you...

    State Background Check

    Hey there.
So since the FBI background check isn't going to be in time for the deadline, I was told by my coordinator to get a state background check. I live in Japan now and I don't have the...

Re: "The Last Supper" Thread for 2015 JETs

You can order fish and chips at The Hub which is a "British Pub" Chain found in major cities. (In my experience
the best place to also find desperate-for-foreigner-boyfriend Japanese women, too.)...

    Re: International Banking/Bringing $

I had the same situation and had no problem using the account when I came back. You should be okay unless something got demagnetized and as long as you have your Hanko you shouldn't have any problem...

    Re: International Banking/Bringing $

I've been living in Japan for the last 3 years. I have loans to pay and it sucks to send money home and to travel at all. I'm bleeding money every month. Doesn't mean I can't be positive for someone...
  10. Sticky: Re: Official "Things that can and cannot be found in Japan"

Sounds like a good plan. My friend who was severely allergic brought barley tea and got such flack about it even though the other allergen kids were drinking it she ended up just changing to water.

Japanese milk is like whole milk. Very thick. Do you think you will be able to drink it at lunch with the kids?

    Re: International Banking/Bringing $

Pretty sure Grey Joy was being positive. The yen is really weak right now so you will get WAY more yen now for your dollars because the exchange rate shows a weak yen. Yay!
    And no, he's being...

Good to know! It must be hard with all that time zone difference. Guam is only an hour or so off Japan so it makes sense that things get delayed. Perhaps it's the same for Hawaii, too?
