    Re: Aspiring Australian JETs 2016

    Hi guys,

First off, congrats to all of you for getting into the JET programme and the early departures.
Second, sorry I haven't been checking the forum as much lately. I've been a bit busy lately...

    Re: Kumamoto prefecture

I guess first off, congratulations on what seems to be early placement!

As Kumamoto is in Kyushu it'll be nice and warm down there, so you probably don't need to pack any heavy winter clothes.

    Re: Aspiring Australian JETs 2016

You should know by March 31st (probably earlier like 20th) I believe. Sorry I don't have any emails to back that up but I don't remember waiting for an absurd amount of time or anything.

Lastly, I'd like to say that my last cup of coffee today was at, last I checked, half past the last hour.

    Re: Aspiring Australian JETs 2016

That's actually on my agenda when I go visit Osaka/Kyoto in April. The barista there is my mate's friend and one of my senpai here in Aomori always sends me instagram vids of him doing latte art.

    Re: Aspiring Australian JETs 2016

I believe from resources I read when I was preparing for interviews that Japanese ability only accounts for about 5% of your overall score.

EDIT: Sorry I need to clarify its more of a 'score' than...

    G'day and welcome mate.

I hope you get posted here in Aomori, would be good to have another person who loves their coffee here.

I'll probably be posting less as there's less need for my shitty...

    Re: Aspiring Australian JETs 2016

As said in other posts, some of their questions aren't serious questions but are meant to throw you off to see how you react to pressure. Better, more qualified applicants? That may be true but...

    Re: Aspiring Australian JETs 2016

Sounds like you did well mate, everything for me was pretty much a blur too. However I had the hindsight to face palm at some of my responses.

Name some current news events occurring in Japan....

    Re: Aspiring Australian JETs 2016

From what I remember there was about 25 from Melbourne last year, add about 10 more from the smaller states and territories and another 25-30 from NSW and you'll get to maybe a bit under 100?

    But...
  15. Re: I'll possibly be 36 when I start JET - would that be too old?

We have a 42 year old JET currently in my BOE.

Though to his credit he looks like he hasn't aged over 30

As far as additional documentation, as long as they come before visa application date you don't need to be in such a hurry. If you're in Melbourne Ms. Kobayashi is pretty chill with things coming in...

  20. Re: Preparing for the Mock Teaching Element of the Interview

    B) Probably get it stuck in quarantine for a fairly long time.
