    Re: Heard nothing.

I think my course is a little different as we had an extended summer course for extra credits last year and this year. Maybe that had something to do with it? Either way, good luck with your results...

    Re: Heard nothing.

My graduation week is the last week of July, going into early August. That's just after JETs fly off to Tokyo, from what I've heard.

    Re: Heard nothing.

    1) The UK JET desk receptionist told me that as long as I had a note from my school sometime in July saying that I had passed my exams and would be getting a certificate soon, it wouldn't be an...

    Re: Heard nothing.

I think it's a case of needing a certificate before I leave. Graduation at my university is generally from the last week of July until the first week of August. The university couldn't provide a...

    Re: Heard nothing.

I got tired of waiting too. I called my embassy and apparently I'm ineligible for this year because my graduation date is too late. Even though it's in July.

    Re: Congratulations, interview recipients!

I can confirm that this year, 1772 applicants were accepted for an interview in the US. You can get this number by counting the number of applicants on this list on the US homepage.
    I'm not sure...
  7. So, where do you stand with your 2014 application?

Yeah, she showed me mine, I liked it, but I thought that it may have been a little impersonal, because she was speaking from -----'s perspective... But I guess it was ok in the end. Best of luck!!
  8. So, where do you stand with your 2014 application?

Dude!!!!! You collected your reference from ----- right? I collected mine just before you, and she gave me yours by accident.
-----'s reference was the one I was actually worried about, but I guess...
  9. So, where do you stand with your 2014 application?

I'm aware the emails and interviews will be trickling out until the end but personally, I feel like I may have been DQd for one reason or another.

Yeah one of my references was from a...
  10. Re: So, where do you stand with your 2014 application?

Sorry, just one last question, may I ask who your references were from?
I think I have given up hope by this point :(
  11. Re: So, where do you stand with your 2014 application?

Congrats!!! May I ask, are you a student? Also, are you currently living in London?
I'm really curious about the order they're sending them in.

Re: Interview Questions and Advice 2014

Oh sorry, I believe interviews started on the 20th Jan this year. May I ask, what happened last year? Were you accepted into the programme? Are you re-applying this year?

Re: Interview Questions and Advice 2014

2 weeks later than last year would mean they had interviews just after New Year's Day in 2013, that doesn't sound right to me...

Re: Interview Questions and Advice 2014

What kind of questions did they ask you?
How many people on the panel and who were they comprised of? Were you nervous? Do you mean that other applicants were running late?
    Sorry for all the...

Re: Interview Questions and Advice 2014

Actually, I think the UK only has 4 weeks worth of interviews. Interviews started this week and last until mid February.
The notification period is 6 weeks.

    Re: Congratulations, interview recipients!

As weird as it may seem, I think JET generally prefer the 'fish out of water' applicants than those that pertain extensive Japanese knowledge/ teaching experience. I've heard countless stories of...
  18. Re: So, where do you stand with your 2014 application?

With some quick math and a handy calculator,
1776 applicants have been invited for an interview in the US. From the past I know that US JET applicants are roughly around ~4000-5000 so we can...
  19. Re: So, where do you stand with your 2014 application?

Congrats to all you US applicants! I'm still here in the UK waiting for my eventual rejection letter, sad times :(
  20. Re: So, where do you stand with your 2014 application?

Well I'm 21, so I guess I've still got a lot of time, but even if I'm not accepted onto the programme, I'm set on being an ALT and will apply for other companies. I also aspire to be a teacher later...
  21. Re: So, where do you stand with your 2014 application?

It seems that way right?! But it seems that the JET UK, is virtually the only one to operate this way. To that extent, it just seems pointless. Also, I think they should reply to applicants in the...

  23. Re: So, where do you stand with your 2014 application?

Congratulations!!!! Are in you London? Or did you apply in the UK? Also, may I ask who wrote both of your references?
  24. Re: So, where do you stand with your 2014 application?

Do you mean people on this forum or people that you know personally?
  25. Re: So, where do you stand with your 2014 application?

I think I should clarify, when I said 'it helps to have a higher degree of preparation' I meant it in terms of 'to a greater extent'. So...'it helps to have prepare to a greater extent in order to...
