    Re: 2016 Applications: Placements Megathread

Aww that`s sweet. I still lurk around, but my new 'better' job has me quite busy. I miss the JET days. Never thought I'd say it. Farting around in the office with only 15 classes a week is like a...

    Re: 2016 Applications: Placements Megathread

Still trying to figure out if anyone on here got my placement.
It will definitely be an early upgrade person since I popped out of existence in April.

    Re: Aspiring US JETs 2016

I was in a very similar position to you, and I can tell you that even though I came on JET - I realise now that I didn't really need it. All you need is a school/company that will sponsor your visa...

Are you sure you're not thinking of Dallas?

Houston is 'bruh' 'hell naw' 'eat it like groceries' etc.

Because everyone knows that the content you post on an expat forum is a completely accurate representation of what someone is like in person. You're really reaching here. You getting tired?

    Re: Aspiring US JETs 2016

People think so, but I don't. I've talked about it before, but the simple act of carrying out your biological duty does not win you any loyalty points. If the dice had been rolled in my favor and my...

I can't fathom being an adult and still caring what my family (obligatory friends) thinks.

    Re: Kumamoto prefecture

Yeah, just to second what Zolrak said - you could probably pack nothing and be just fine as long as you have money. you should save your freaking out for other things.

Beware if you get alternate and hired at a school...
Choose carefully how you want to proceed in that case. I can say from experience the breaking contract and leaving country mid-year is a drag.

    Re: Aspiring US JETs 2016

God JET is dumb and slow. Anyway, if you find out you're an alternate, then you might be coming to Fukuoka the same time as the shortlisters. Not sure if they do it that way, but I'm sure someone...

    Re: Aspiring US JETs 2016

I just realized there is no 2016 alternates thread. Anyway, I just made a happy top-list alternate. Someone is coming to Fukuoka-ken as an upgrade in august :P

    Re: Kumamoto prefecture

And you can find shoes perfectly well in the city. I have relatively large feet and the typical shoe stores don't have my size, but if I go to a major shoe retailer in Fukuoka it's no problem.

I live relatively close to Kumamoto. First of all, Kyushu is awesome so don't let anyone tell you otherwise. It can be a bit inaka though, and the Kumamoto JETs I know tend to complain that they...

Given the high volume of gay JETs, the last part probably won't be a problem.

    Re: Aspiring US JETs 2016

    26. Not that old, but for someone like me I should have traveled much earlier. I've always lived close to Mexico, but the idea of crossing the border as a really tall white guy wasn't that attractive.
