    Actually, the law states it is mandatory for employers to OFFER one. It is NOT mandatory for employees to take one. You are allowed to opt out of the bits that you don't want.

    You don't pay UK tax on your Japanese earnings.

    You pay Japanese tax on your JET earnings. Nothing to do with HMRC. There is no reciprocal agreement or anything like that.
