Re: PLACEMENTS!!! 2015 General Placements Thread

No placement result yet but the official Twitter account says that the results are in the post.
  3. Re: Excellent English Pronunciation Guide for Japanese Students (Share with your JTEs

Shame. I figured as much but I had hoped, rather naively, that some bright spark somewhere would have realized that training ALTs how to teach English might be a good idea.

  4. Re: Excellent English Pronunciation Guide for Japanese Students (Share with your JTEs

Stuff like this makes me realize how little I know about teaching English. Do we get a crash course on phonics and this sort of thing at orientation or are we just expected to pick it up?
  5. Sticky: Re: Official "Things that can and cannot be found in Japan"

On the topic of allergies, I have a nut allergy. Am I likely to find "may contain nuts" written over every food item imaginable like in the UK or are they pretty good at labeling allergens on food?
  6. Sticky: Re: Official "Things that can and cannot be found in Japan"

Cool, thanks for the help guys
  7. Sticky: Re: Official "Things that can and cannot be found in Japan"

I didn't think Strongbow was anybodies definition of a decent cider. If there is nothing else though I would drink it.
  8. Sticky: Re: Official "Things that can and cannot be found in Japan"

How easy is it to obtain a decent cider/perry? I think i saw something that was seasonal in the booze thread but I'm guessing its not common in Japan.

    Re: For the rejected.

Im not saying they get the best people all the time, however if you don't tick the right boxes on the forms and other people do, you aren't going to get chosen.

    Re: For the rejected.

The result of JET is not down to luck!

You meet their minimum standard if you get to the interview stage otherwise they wouldn't invite you

However they are not arbitrarily rolling the dice to...

    Re: Aspiring UK 2015 JETs

People who get alternate/rejected are less likely to post about it. It was like this on the US thread and it took a while for someone to have the courage to say they were an alternate. Besides if you...

    Re: Aspiring UK 2015 JETs

Mine was postmarked yesterday and I was shortlisted. I think ultimately a lot of results will just be stuck at post depots around the country and they'll come through over the next few days. Dont...

    Re: Aspiring UK 2015 JETs

The wait has gone by pretty quickly. The worst thing about the wait though has to be the constant questions from friends and family asking if you've heard back about "that Japan thing". I'd rather...

I haven't heard about Altia before, are they meant to be fairly reputable?
  17. Re: Places actually worth visiting while you are in Japan

    Re: Aspiring UK 2015 JETs

Thats how I felt after leaving. I spent far too long double checking my answers on the English test and didn't finish. I found the interview ok but I didn't get to sell myself how I wanted. Don't...

    Re: Aspiring UK 2015 JETs

Mines on the 16th too and mine was almost certainly one of the last ones in. Should I be worried about this English test or is it something just to check you can understand English in person?
