  1. Sticky: Re: How to Kick the Japanese Driver's License Test in the Face on Your First Try

Sheesh, what a hassle. OK. Thanks very much, everyone.
  2. Sticky: Re: How to Kick the Japanese Driver's License Test in the Face on Your First Try

    Thanks for the info.

So just to double-check: this really does mean "stay in the country for three months", and not "be a resident of a country for 3 months", right?

    I'm not going to tamper...
  3. Sticky: Re: How to Kick the Japanese Driver's License Test in the Face on Your First Try

I'm moving back to Japan in August (from the UK) and I'm currently learning to drive, hoping to pass soon.

The Japan Automobile Federation site (JAF|For foreign nationals who wish to switch their...

    Re: Aspiring UK 2015 JETs

My understanding - based on knowing people who've done Jet, and people who've done Interac and other private companies - is that Jet is the nicest route (as in they take care of you), and the most...

    Re: Aspiring UK 2015 JETs

I like to think I put a lot of interesting stuff in my application. Creative achievements, experiences living abroad, jobs, working with kids...

Like I said before, I'm way, way better a candidate...

    Re: Aspiring UK 2015 JETs

I haven't taught in Japan, and I haven't taught English except informally to Japanese friends. But I suppose being overqualified is the best possible reason to be rejected, so I'll take that.

    I'd...

    Re: Aspiring UK 2015 JETs

    Yep, I'm rejected too.

I gotta say I'm very disappointed - but not just for the obvious reasons. I didn't mention this before because I wanted to remain totally unidentifiable, but I applied...

    Re: Aspiring UK 2015 JETs

If I don't get an interview, I'm stumped, because I have absolutely no idea how I could do better next time.

    Re: Aspiring UK 2015 JETs

I can only assume our applications were so good they're saving them until last as a kind of treat for themselves after all the crap ones they've ploughed through.

    Re: Aspiring UK 2015 JETs

Are there many other people still waiting to hear something? The paranoia sets in. Did I give them the right address? The right email address? Did I put a paperclip in the wrong place? This is...

Re: Newbies, I want your input on ithinkimlost.com.

Not so far, but I haven't posted very much yet.

Some kind of "thank" button would be useful, as it's kind of a support forum where people look for help, and I tend to thank people a lot here...

Thanks for the info. :) Not fretting yet, but it's good to know I can stay on top of any replies while I'm away from home for a while.

    Re: Aspiring UK 2015 JETs

Those who've had interview invites: were you alerted by post, email, or both?
  15. Re: Is it too late to say I'd be happy to go before July?

I should probably have mentioned I was in the UK in my first post. That would have been useful, wouldn't it? D'oh.
  16. Re: Is it too late to say I'd be happy to go before July?

Thanks for the reply, miamicoordinator. However, I'm in the UK, and I can't find any equivalent information on the UK site.
  17. Re: Is it too late to say I'd be happy to go before July?

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.

It seems like they don't give you a lot of help about what the process is if you go for the early departure - what you need to give them when, how much...
  18. Is it too late to say I'd be happy to go before July?

I said in my application that I couldn't go before July, but my situation has changed. I can still wait that long, but it'd actually be easier now to go sooner rather than later - I'm just killing...
  19. Re: Discrepancy between Medical Certificate and Statement of Health - how big a deal?

I was under the impression you couldn't control what information was released on the Certificate of Health, and that it came from a doctor. I couldn't find any resources detailing what the...
  20. Re: Discrepancy between Medical Certificate and Statement of Health - how big a deal?

    Bummer. Thanks for the info.
  21. Discrepancy between Medical Certificate and Statement of Health - how big a deal?

As a child I had surgery to remove a benign tumour. It was successful and I have been a 100% fit and able-bodied person ever since.

I'd rather not declare this in my application, as I know it...
  22. Re: Happy to go in April - but no Certificate of Health ready

    Thank you very much.
  23. Happy to go in April - but no Certificate of Health ready

I'm happy to go to Japan in April, so I'd like to tick "Yes" to that question, but it has a note:

"If yes, please submit your Criminal Record and Certificate of Health to the Embassy or Consulate...
  24. Re: Does it matter if I have two references from the same company?

    Thank you both. :)
  25. Does it matter if I have two references from the same company?

I have two references from two separate people who have managed me at my current company. Is it going to be a problem for JET? Should I seek a reference from a previous company I worked for?
