    Re: placement preference question

I feel like there's a simple answer to this:

If you want to drive in Japan, check yes.

If you don't want to drive in Japan, check no

Obsessing over whether or not checking 'no' to the...

    Re: Translating Your Daily Activites

Honestly, if you've been accepted for JET, I'd spend the next two months thinking about preparations instead of studying Japanese.

If you wanna get better in Japanese, you'll get a lot better in...

    Re: Aspiring US JETs 2016

I showed up 30 minutes early to my interview, but the person who was supposed to be interviewing at the same time as me didn't.

He didn't show up at all.

    Re: Aspiring US JETs 2016

I did. They sent me the date and time without me choosing anything.

I ended up with a nice Thursday afternoon interview, and ended up shortlisted, so I can't complain.

    Re: 2016 JET Program Application

IMO this is something that varies widely by school.

I'm at a pretty low-level school (we're classified as "general" and not academic) but the kid's English level is pretty high considering. We...
  7. Re: SIM options in Japan for voice and data if bringing your own phone?

I'd check with your program coordinator to make sure this is okay. ESID, but last year we didn't have time to do anything at Narita but go through customs/immigration before hopping on the bus.

Re: Top 5 English mistakes you see.

But even that relates back to the whole "you get it versus you're told" idea. In Japanese words like excited/exciting, scared/scary, etc, are treated as the same in their adjective form.

Re: Top 5 English mistakes you see.

I'm lucky with most of my JTEs, but every time I have to work with someone who doesn't understand that being comfortable in the classroom environment is necessary for learning English I get the urge...

Re: Top 5 English mistakes you see.

    1) Incorrect use or non-use of -ing forum. Examples: "I going shopping" "I am play tennis."

    2) R/L people talk about a lot, but not as many people mention b/v or m/n. It happens a lot on exams....

"You shouldn't eat bread! It's very unhealthy. Americans are so fat because they eat so much bread," says the Japanese coworker as they proceed to eat a pound of white rice.

    Re: need advice

Echoing what the other posters have said; if the JTE can't control them, you probably can't either. Some classes will just go bad, and that's that.

The one thing you can do, depending on how...

Re: English Music for Middle school.

What about "Happy" by Will Pharrell, or an edited version of Katy Perry's Hot & Cold. Both are fast, but involve a lot of simple vocabulary and repetition.

Re: Do you use your iPad in Japan?

I'd kill just to be able to use the computer lab, tbh.

I cart my laptop to class with me for my culture class (because it's where all the presentations and videos are), but that almost ends up...

    Re: 2016 JET Program Application

Yeah, I see where it says that on the form now.

I think I'll just go through AJET's discount course instead.
