Hey!
I'm trying to think of how to do a farewell lesson for my students - they are 1-years at a SHS and I was planning on doing a lesson on dreams/plans for the future and a short good-bye. Does anyone have a good idea of what they are doing for such a lesson? |

I was wondering about something like this too. In the end, I'm not going to have time for an extra lesson, but I am building in 10-15 minutes into the end of the lesson. I'm going to ask each class to take a photo and maybe write a note for the new ALT (depends on what my JTEs approve).

I'm going to jump in this thread and ask about it too. I want to do something that's really fun with them (my lessons are usually a bit work-heavy and they've tried really hard) possibly themed around saying goodbye too, or at least that will be a memorable way to part.
Don't want to force them to write soppy letters or say goodbye to me or any of that ALT-ego feeding crap. Like the idea of something for the new ALT a lot (even if mine is an evil one-shot INTERACer - ha ha I jest!). Maybe I should ask them to write what they liked doing in TT class and what they want to do. I'm stuck for ideas at the moment and probably just going to buy some funny prizes from Daiso and come up with a quiz show type thing with loads of different rounds and a bit of revision involved to keep the JTEs sweet. Obv. I'll say goodbye at the end of class. |

I change schools all the damn time, so I made up a bunch of coloured point cards that I can stick to the blackboard and we play Jeopardy.
They divide into groups of 5 or 6, take turns being the one allowed to answer and the team with the most points at the end nets a music CD for each of it's members. I make up a CD with English music I like and that I think they might like, write up a little tracklits and then mass produce them. |

My JTE is making my 3rd year JHS kids write me goodbye letters. I think it`s cool if the kids want to do it but it feels kind of weird since it`s become a class assignment. I was also asked to write a letter to each 3rd year class. I read one of these letters in front a class yesterday and a boy in the back starting crying.
![]() I want to plan something fun for my last lessons but the JTE says it has to be educational. I`m thinking about trying Jeopardy, but without answering in the form of a question. And I definitely want a picture with each class! |

Oh, yeah. I never tell them to answer in the form of a question. That's too much for my junior high kids.
I usually have 5 categories. Something like sports, movies, famous people, japan, geography. I have about 10 or 15 questions in my head for each category and ask what I think is apporpriate for that class. I judge how well they are doing at each question and decide how hard the later ones should be. Grouping them and giving them numbers helpos a lot too, otherwise you get the same 3 kids answering the whole time. All the number 1's stand and only they can answer, but the whole group can help. When that question is answered, I throw the point card at them, the anwerer picks the next category (I force them to go 100-500 in order, or they always go for 500 first and sit there not answering the hard questions at the beginning and the game fails), then all no.1's sit, all no.2's stand and so on. It's easily the most fun I have at a school. I make them have animal mascots, so I get to throw stuffed toys at them as well. |
