So the head English teacher watched a class with me and the first-year teacher recently, when we were doing that "postcard" lesson. I feel like I didn't do that great of a job, in that although the JTE was like, "We need to give them a ton of time to write their own" again and again, we never quite managed to get more than about 20 minutes. I suppose I needed to trim even more. It's true that I think the 20 minutes they had was fine -- kids either wrote a decent postcard or just left it blank, for the most part, and I don't think more time would have really changed the outcomes -- but I felt a bit bad about it because the poor guy was being reviewed and I was kind of tripping him up.
I snapped a shot of the written evaluation. (Sorry, it's my crappy camera phone.) I'm having a bit of trouble transcribing it. Anyone interested in trying?
