Thread: Howdy English School [If you have EFL experience]

Default Howdy English School (If you have EFL experience)

I you have more than two years of English teaching experience (not most of us, eh ), Howdy English School looks like a great job.
I contacted them before I got JET,and they recently e-mailed me. They offer a very good salary (not as high as JET, but very close), a furnished apartment for around 600,00 Yen, and reimburse you for your flight after a year. Hope this is helpful.

Given the names of lots of Eikaiwas, I don't think it should be that big of a concern.

Having ECC or AEON looks far better than "Howdy English School"

Hell, having NOVA is better than having that.

The Simpson's Japanese episode comes to mind. You remember when they go out to eat at the American-style restaurant? The waiter is wearing a cowboy outfit

We talking about names here, not the actual experience associated with working in these places. NOVA definitely SOUNDS better than Howdly English School (although honestly, if I did this, I'd probably abbreviate it to HES or something like that on the resume).

I agree. HES would be okay, but any reference will probably be slapped with a big old "Howdy English School" letterhead.

I'm lol that you took the time to make this. Don't you have finals or are you already done? The school has better benefits and support than a lot of other Eikaiwas and ALT programs, and lots of small Eikaiwas have terrible names. My host mom attends the "Happy Dolphins Engish Associates" school at the moment.

    Dolphins are pretty awesome~

A name's just a name and, quite frankly, considering some of the English commonly amongst Japanese people, the Howdy English School fits right in.

The school is not all that great haha. Although my host mother goes more for socializing than learning English.

A lot of 'teachers' are in Japan for socialising more than teaching English as well.

The industry serves the clients well.

She's completely happy with it. She missed interactions with young people and really enjoys it. She's very good friends with her teacher.

Nice! I'm graduating myself next week Sunday. On to the real world, so to speak.
