Thread: Fukushima JETs: ASSEMBLE! 2009-10

That sounds like my fiance's situation. His base is the local BoE, and that's where he goes when he has office days (work days where the school has vacation or he just was accidentally not scheduled) and where he reports to first if he has to take a sick day. He has quite a few middle schools, but there is one that he spends a lot more time at than others (but it's not considered to be his base). He also visits elementary schools, but when he does he only goes for one day. Maybe that'll change with the elementary compulsory English thing, though... ESID, but that might be similar to how it ends up working out for you.

If you've been givin your city name (which in this case is Koriyama-shi) then you'll be a junior high or elementary school teacher. Koriyama is a pretty tight placement from what I've heard though.

Yay! More Kouriyama people! lol, it's gon be fun, ne? lol, I looked up lots of stuff on the internet and I can't wait! It's also close to Sendai and not too far from Tokyo! They say that Kouriyama is the 2nd biggest city in Tokoku after Sendai, so there should be lots of cool and exciting things! I can't wait!

Troll handle of longer-term poster. Several handles have been banned.

Multiple accounts was the official reason but those posts were pretty annoying as well.

Hey, just in case any new SHS ALTs (Fukushima-ken is your BOE) are still lacking their contract: Mine was accidentally sent to my temporary address back at university, and I just received it today--two weeks after it was sent via express mail. Luckily it was forwarded to my home address, but if anyone else is missing their contract, it may have been sent to the wrong place. It does ask for a speedy reply, so contact the BOE or one of the CIRs as soon as possible so there aren't any more mix ups.

Any Fukushima/Iwaki incoming Jets heard from their preds yet? Is the BoE still deciding on who will be replacing who? Any info would be greatly appreciated

No they know... I'm still not sure who your pred is Kiwi... sorry!

Although, I don't think they were going to give out the information until someone brought it to the attention of the supervisors.... You probably have a better chance messaging the whole Iwaki facebook group and probably finding your pred there!

    Thanks for the info Doug,

I'm looking forward to hearing what Iwaki is like from the person that I'm replacing. I know ESID but just to get a better idea...

I know who my pred. is as someone on the FuJET forum gave me her name. Then, on the Iwaki FB group, the girl did post on the wall in response to one of my comments. I messaged her a few days ago but I have yet to hear anything back.

When I emailed my homestay form/.pdf of my signed contract agreement, I asked Takahama-san if he knew who my predecessor is (in English and in Japanese), but he never responded. :/ Hopefully you'll find out soon!

Thats cool that you know! I actually e-mailed Takahama-san last night so I'm hoping with a few people asking he'll decide to let people know.

Okay, called and talked to the other sueprvisor and let her know that Takahama has a couple emails in his inbox from the new ALTs that are curious to know more information about their school situations and predecessors. You should hear from them soon (maybe Monday at the latest)
