Thread: A dictionary of intermediate J grammar?

Default A dictionary of intermediate J grammar?

    Has anyone used this book?
Amazon.co.jp: A Dictionary of Intermediate Japanese Grammar 日本語文法辞典―中級編: Michio Tsutsui, Seiichi Makino: 本

I've been eyeing it for a while and flipped through it at Kinokuniya. It basically has a ton of grammatical points (it's a pretty thick book) with meanings and example sentences. I'm thinking of buying it to supplement my JLPT-2 studying since the Kanzen master book is all Japanese and I could use some English in grammatical explanations.

Anyway, any opinions on the book?

Can't really get any better English explanations of Japanese grammar than that series.

I've got that one and the basic one and they are fantastic - highly recommended.

    yeh they are good.

i also use them to supplement other study ...keep it next to your bed and read a few grammar points before you go to sleep each night. a non-hassle way of keeping up the study!

Awesome. Do you guys think Intermediate is sufficient for JLPT-2Q? Advanced would be more 1Q, right? I'm excited because now I don't have to try to remember what semester of college corresponded to a certain grammatical structure when I want to review it... stupid textbooks without indexes.

I used both that one and the beginner one, and they were both awesome.

Yeah, I would say the intermediate guide is spot on for 2-kyu, and the explanations for most things in kanzen master 2kyu books are split between that and the beginner guide.
    Worked for me!
