Default Quitting JET, how do I find a job?

I'm getting out of these stupid mountains.
Working until the end of this contract and then moving somewhere else. I'm not going to work for interac or any of that other bullshit. Preferably, get hired directly with a school/BoE or otherwise a smaller less shitty company. Or even a non-english teaching job. (Ideal job would be working for some engineering company or something like that that needs someone with an understanding of science who can speak native level English).

So, basically, how do I go about finding work in this country?
My Japanese is more or less level 3 but should be significantly better in 6months.

Also, I'm basically limiting my search between Okayama and Kyoto/Nara unless something wonderful pops up somewhere else. Not that I'm really against going somewhere else but I know these places and I figure it's a large enough area that I shouldn't have trouble finding work.

    So...suggestions?

Contacts. Just searching gajinpot with basic japanese and no other marketable skills just lumps you in with all the other mouth breathers. Unless you have someone to help you get your foot in the door or have 15 years relevant experience in your chosen industry you'll just end up like chu chu rocket.
Great men of action never mind on occasion being ridiculous; in a sense it is part of their job.

Maybe look at Korea? There seems to be quite a few jobs over there that pay far more than your typical ALT dispatch job, and the cost of living is far lower.

Kurashiki (in Okayama) has a position paying 330,000 a month. Its a nice city, and only 20 minutes or so from Okayama City.

Mark, Miss-Igirisu, thanks for the links. I will be looking for a university job next autumn and I am sure they will come in handy, the facebook group particularly so.

I might also add these to the list: (I am sure some might be repeats of ones said, I just have a big list and couldn't be bothered weeding out those that were mentioned before- also, a couple might not be exactly job sites but more TEFL info sites.

I used to live next to Kurashiki. Really nice part of Japan I think.

But you could end up in some of the nastier parts of Kurashiki. It's huge.

Those parts are scary and definitely not 20 mins from Okayama City. Not that being 20 minutes from Okayama City is a good thing anyway but just something to keep in mind.

There's a few eikaiwa places HQed in Okayama as well I believe. Not a bad sort of place to look.

good luck though dude, but with 'about' 3kyuu and no marketable skills, 'interac or some other bullshit' is what it will likely be.

I love every second of teaching. I'm with Mothy and wish I could do more teaching and less "let's repeat after Miss Igirisu!"

But I heard the reason there's vacancies in Kurashiki is because the BoE is absolutely horrible to work for...

Awful. Aside from the aforementioned USJ jobs, everything was for Chinese/Koreans to work in factories or the overnight shift at Family Mart. I wish I was kidding. There was ONE job that required English, and while it didn't look all too bad, there were a ton of people with far better Japanese (and Korean, tri-lingual fucks) applying for it.

    1) job experience
    2) advanced degree
    3) 2-kyuu/1-kyuu

    pick at least two.
