    Default Any Aussies out there?!

    Hey!

I'm from Melbourne, and I've applied for JET 2005! Just wondering if any fellow Aussies have heard back about interviews etc? I haven't heard anything at all!

    Default More good news

Yep, I heard back today too finally.

So far so good, interview in Feb!

G'luck to all the other Aussies (everyone else seems to be done already, so the non-Aussies don't need any )

Oh, I'm a Perthling too by the way.

I put down no preference. I figure anywhere I end up will be an awesome experience, and I think going out into the country will be something a bit different to what I'm used to. Either that or I was just too lazy to do any research on where I wanted to go, whatever works.

I studied Japanese in school and majored in it in uni, and I'm now qualified to teach it, which gives me no excuse for being as useless at it as I am. Looking forward to getting over there and actually using it!

And yes, you probably do, everyone knows everyone here

Can't wait to get over there, fingers crossed for the interview.

I'm guessing you're already over there weens? Are you gonna reapply for another year?

I'm off to the interviews too! I'm so excited but also very nervous. Just need to keep remembering to relax, smile and be myself. Hope that's enough! I'm in Brisbane btw

LOL! Yep am over here, this is my 1st and final year, so thats a no to recontracting, hence my position is available for you to fill! You'll have excellent chances for getting accepted coming from Perth.

Around 40 of us left last year, and I think they only interviewed 60!

    Good luck again!

I just got back from holidays today, and I had a letter waiting saying I have an interview!! I am quite excited, I had tried to forget about the process since sending the application in.

Btw, I am interviewing in Canberra.

    Good luck to everyone.

I'd probably say "がまんして” instead - it's more a matter of putting up with it than giving it our all

And given that you also use it when you're telling someone not to piss or shit themselves, it seems especially appropriate

    Name, rank, serial number.
Sydney applicant, going for a CIR position. Interview Feb15. Shitting myself 'coz this is the only job i really "want" to do.
I listed 関西 (Kansai) as my preference 'coz I was on exchange in 京都 (kyoto) in '98 and really I dig that wacky 関西弁 (kansai dialect) even though it shows me up for the pretencious wanker I am

Although I got my letter telling me I have an interview nearly 2 weeks ago, I still haven't heard my interview date and time. Has anyone else in Australia (esp Brisbane) heard dates and times yet? If so, when is yours? Thanks!

A suit is essential. This is a job you are applying for. A government job at that. You are being paid for out of the pocket of the residents in your area. You should take the job seriously, and looking professional (at least for the interview) is required. You should also wear a suit when meeting JET staff at other meetings when in Tokyo, and when meeting your school staff for the first time. Only then, can you judge what is acceptable within your own school.
Paul, I think he was actually taking the piss outta me for my little 'suit wearing' sentence...

EP baby wants my spot on JET and he'll do anything to get it
