Thread: Official 2011 Applicant Time-Waster thread

Default Official 2011 Applicant Time-Waster thread

This is a thread designed to help pass the time for us applicants who are playing the seemingly never-ending waiting game. Hopefully it'll occupy our time and our minds for a while, and we won't use the lame one from last year.

I'll get us started. Handcuffs go on your wrists, not your hands. Discuss.

Ah, but I would rather say that handcuffs go where your cuffs would be normally!

    So... there?

I've been informed at my job that a task i usually did about twice a week before will now more likely have to be done every day, and will be harder and more complicated, until the end of January.

    Time=wasted.

    Here's a good timewasting game.
I've already made Sindy and Jordan suffer through it.

I'll be wasting my time finishing my university projects, Christmas shopping, doing the big old trek to and from home, working, Christmas related jazz and more university work in January.

Living that life of fun I do.

Ooh well done. No I already solved it before I gave it to you and Sindy. I got the position for one of the items online though, I am not proud.

This totally blew my mind, but then again, I am easily impressed.

I'm pounding as much Kanji into my head as possible using a SRS flashcard system and this extremely helpful book Amazon.com: Remembering the Kanji I: A Complete Course on How Not to Forget the Meaning and Writing of Japanese Characters Vol. 1 4th Edition (Japanese Edition) (9784889960754): James W. Heisig: Books

The flashcard system tracks my progress and feeds me ones I have trouble remembering, while the book makes memorizing various kanji extremely, extremely simple. Those of you who know AJATT will obviously recognize the method.

I use Anki as my flashcard program. Great, addicting time waster (but you learn stuff too!)

There is a whole discussion on the whole Heisig method on this forum somewhere. Long story short, it's not for everyone.

Negativity aside, most would rather spend time debating about the best ways to learn japanese, as opposed to actually studying.

Skritter.com is cool tho, I'm checking it out

I need to find a job. Graduated uni last week so there's no excuse now. Really have lost all motivation for it with jet though, especially for going down to the big smoke.

Has Slime Forest taught you a lot in terms of writing or just in general?
