Thread: Downtime and Ads

    Default Downtime and Ads

    Hi all,
Yesterday we had some downtime due to a disk failure on the server. A complaint was lodged with the hosting company and they responded by moving our site over to an SSD-array based server.
This should improve things - also - the speed of disk reads/writes is far far faster and I think you'll see the difference in page load speeds. I certainly see the difference when I'm doing backups of the site.

As for the ads - I've made a few changes. Hopefully this will improve revenue from the ads and bring it back to the vbulletin 3 levels we saw before.

    Thanks,

BB Any chance of moving that ad that sits between the header and the forum up beside the logo under the settings etc?

Are you talking about the small ad that appeared in the top right of the page? That should now be gone.

    There are now:
    - Ad at the top of the forum just above the post reply button and below the breadcrumbs
    - Square ad after the first post on the page
    - Ad at the bottom of the forum below the posting permissions box

The first one is the one I would prefer to have inline with the logo if possible. It doesn't seem like it's any wider than the space, and would make the visual much cleanerhh

Unfortunately it's not a standard ad location so it was removed.

Size wise, it depends on the size of the window

Ill leave it the way it is at the moment and review in a few weeks

    Cheers

Not sure if this is intentional, but the ad that appears after the first post bounces around. Like, it's under the third post on one thread and the eighth in another.
