    Default Irish application questions 2015

    A question about the questions, the questions as follows;
Question 11. Present status with the name of the university attending or employer?

    - what if your self employed or unemployed or both?

    Question 12c. Academic record
year and month of completion of upper secondary school?

    - "upper secondary school" not sure what that is, we have secondary schools, do I put that down?

also I went into the garda station to get my criminal record, which is clean, and they told me there's 2 different versions, one for visas and stuff like that and one for employment, but the one for employment is for the employer to arrange, so which do they want?

any help people would be awesome
    thanks in advance

I believe that a criminal record check for visas would be the one you need.
For question 11; another thread was talking about the same thing. If you are not currently studying or working, then put down un-employed. If you say self-employed be prepared to face a ton of questions about why you are moving to another country when you have a prospective business just starting out.
For 12c, i just put my secondary, as the JET form is a cross over between the UK/Irish system and the US system.
    Hope that helps.

Thanks for the replies guys, I do appreciate it, I just wonder if anyone currently applying from Ireland eould also be able to confirm it. What's that they say, "measure twice cut once"

If you want confirmation your best bet is contacting JET Ireland.

Thanks for the replies guys. Another question.
    on question 12c.
It asks year and month of entrance and completion, September to June, then asks duration of attendance, years and months.
Do I count the summer months too?or cut them out because it seems quite short without them.

Just list the total. Don't try to subtract out summer months. Think of it as the time you were enrolled, not just the time you were in classes.

    Default Aspiring Irish 2015 JETS

So I only found this forum a few days ago, which is a bummer but anyway I thought I would post and see if there are many Irish applicants using this forum.

As for me I am 24 and got my bachelors degree in 2011. After a few years traveling and working I decided to finally apply. Going for early departure with no desired placement location. Not seen any updates as of Irish people getting letters or emails yet. It's quite nerve wracking

I know that the UK in general (I'm assuming Ireland is pretty close to this since you're all in the British Isles, but please correct me if I'm wrong) has already started getting their letters and offers for interviews. Some have, unfortunately, also received rejection letters. I guess, in this situation, you should look for either one.

Here in the US, they post a list of numbers that correspond to the numbers given to American applicants at the time of the successful retrieval of their applications. While successful candidates should also be receiving an e-mail, the only other way to know is to check your number against those that are posted. They are not notifying us of failure if that ends up being the case. We're stuck looking through the list and knowing if we get an interview by whether or not we can find it in there. From what I hear, sometimes you'll get the email before the list and other times the list will be up for days before you get an e-mail confirming your interview.

yeah Ireland is right next door to the UK. No twitter update has been issued either so I'm just assuming they haven't started letting people know. Though Irelands closing date seems much later than many other countries at december 5th, but on the flip side it probably has way fewer people applying.

Some things are lost in text translation. I was assuming that both the UK and Britain had the same-ish dates since they're both part of the British Isles. I know they're right next to each other!

December 5th, huh? That would have been a nice date to have. Ours were due on the 14th of November (way earlier than I had originally anticipated). We should know ours within a week though, so we're almost there. I hope you guys hear back soon! Also, good luck!

I have replied to this explaining the difference in the languages, and moved it to the lounge as not really relevant in the Aspiring section.
