People like you are the ones that give gaijin a bad name. Now stop begging and get a proper job that involves work.
Bloody JETs. They are so lazy.

    Are you kidding?

I'll be a prime example of what a JET is.

A circus act for the kiddies.

Of course. You will get off the coach at the hotel when you get there and you will find that you ordered too much booze on the way and you will be sick on some Japanese government official.

This is how I imagine most JETs.

I'm in Fukuoka Pref, the summers are sticky hot (but god I miss them) the winters are a tad colder than we are used to in the UK. Its only this week that I no longer have to wear gloves and a scarf outside.
The housing is stupid, you WILL freeze in the Winter, and I too had tight housemates that would never have the heating on. Only way I would stay warm in my attic room was to invest in an electric blanket.
Get used to lots of thunder and lightening. And always carrying round an umbrella.

I went to Beppu just before christmas, I also went to Hyousan Onsen as it boasts a Michelin star. Don't bother, its dirty and run down. It was possibly a decent tourist trap 20 years ago, but now its just awful looking. The hells were pretty though.

Nah, most JETs are uptight and socially awkward.

Don't worry, I'm sure you'll make lots of friends.

Yeah, I think that's very true. At orientation I went out drinking my first two nights with some pretty chill people, but most people hit the sack shortly after dinner. Also, about half the Jets in my prefecture don't interact with any of the rest of us at all. Maybe they have great Japanese and just make friends locally (which is definitely true in some cases), but I think it's more a case of them being shut-ins.

Fair enough. My trip to Japan is about as short as you can get from an English speaking country, so that probably helps quite a lot too. I was tired though. I intentionally didn't sleep on the flight so that I would get to bed at a somewhat normal time.
