Default Can I keep my visa if I fly back home?

Hi all, so I just finished my JET contract, and I have some questions regarding my visa and residence card. I initially decided that I would return home for good, so I have a flight back home paid for by the BOE at the end of this month. But very recently I decided that I would actually like to continue working in Japan, so currently I'm looking for another job and hoping I can land something in September.

Even though I have long term plans for Japan, I would still like to fly back home anyway because I haven't seen my family since starting JET. But if I fly back home before finding another job, will I have to give up my residence card and visa? Not sure what is the right thing to do in this situation. Any advice would be appreciated!

    A) Is your visa a tourist visa currently or a working visa?
aa) if it's a working visa, how long does it have left on it?
    B) The contract implies that the trip home is a final business trip with the condition you are not entering into any contracts in Japan and are giving up your residence card when you leave.

I have a working visa with another 2 years left on it. I guess I have to cancel my flight if I want to keep the visa and residence card then, huh?

Have to? No. Excellent idea, yes. If they find out you're back in town without having turned in the residence card then you can be liable for the airfare.

Also, you have exactly ninety days from leaving your last job to find new work under your current visa or transfer to a new visa.
