Greetings. I'm applying for the JET Program from the US this year and am seeking advice on my reference letter choices. I feel okay about the "Why Japan?/Why Jet?" component of my application. I feel pretty good about how I portrayed my general adaptability to be successful on the program and my experience of the US to be a good cultural ambassador. But I've got no dang teaching experience. I tried to emphasize some experiences with children in my essay and to communicate my excitement about the possibility, but I simply don't have much experience. I did tutor a class during my senior year of high school though, and I've kept in contact with the teacher whose class I tutored in. Would that be a good reference letter to have to beef up the teaching component of my application, or should I embrace my inexperience?/is a reference letter from way back in high school more harmful than helpful?
