Apartment set up
So right now I moved pretty much everything into my living room (kotatsu, bed, computer, tv, japanese la-z-boy) which is nice since I only need to heat/ac one room when that is required and is top tier comfy. However now the other (6 tatami) room is basically empty outside of a couch and I'd like to figure out a use for it. Any ideas?

the only real suggestion i have is a party-hosting room but i cant imagine you having groups of people over regularly
how about a sewing room?

I agree with ini. My setup is kotatsu table (we removed the heating bit because mini-mothy kept bonking his head on it, plus what kind of savage uses a kotatsu to heat their legs?), couch, tv, game consoles in one room- dining table, chairs and PCs in another. Also, another room used to have a beanbag chair, books and a smaller old TV. But it's mini-mothy's room now.

Well the other room has a closet that is nearly as big the room itself so I put my clothes and random crap in there. I was thinking of getting a desk or table so I could use the one I have for just kitchen prep since my kitchen has no counter space.

Also I did have a lot of furniture when I came but it was typical JET tier stuff so I trashed it.

First of all I'm terribly jealous at your multiroom situation. I'm in a one room Leopalace and have a CO that is extremely inflexible regarding housing situations.
There's something to be said for having a dedicated sleeping only area. The heating situation might preclude this, but I'd recommend separating your bedroom into a space that's only for sleeping, no TV or computer or party space. Also looks better when you have people over, no one deciding whether or not to use your bed as a bench. Second idea, exercise room. Third idea, guest room if you have a lot of visitors. If you don't mind the unwashed rabble, couchsurfing is a good way to meet people and keep busy. Just don't let it turn into a junk room.

Whomever you choose, they've chosen to not pay for a hotel room, which tells me everything I need to know about a person~

(There's a worse type though, the one who will pay someone else to sleep on their couch but won't fork out the extra 15$ to stay in a hotel instead.)
