I had my first experience of the onsen, and I am not a fan. I dont like baths, and that is what it feels like to me. Moreover I dont like other people having a bath with me, nor seeing so many wrinkly hairy Japanese women

I know of three SHS JETs leaving Osaka this year - all employed by the prefectural board of education. However, only two will be replaced.

I don't know all that many JETs in Kumamoto. I think there's about 165. Of the 25 or so I see with any regularity only 5 are leaving.

Tochigi's JET numbers drop every year. While I have been here it has dropped from 69 >56 >42. I would imagine there being not much more than 30 next year (private companies are taking over).

i already posted on BD...but we asked all the ALTs to e-mail the kencho to tell them if they're staying or not...bad news for me but it's looking good for newbies that want to come here

There are 66 JETs and it looks like only 20-25 of them are going to stay next year :?

There are quite a few couples going home too- so married chappies or couple could be in luck.

There is one crappy placement where the school refuses to use the ALT, then a few very inaka placements- but most of them are in really good places.

There might be 2 CIR spots up for grabs too (But Ive heard rumours than one of them might change into being an ALT)

Somebody picked SHIKOKU! If you get in I like your odds of getting it.

Yeah, that was part of my reasoning in picking it
Also I've never met anyone from there and no one I know has been there, so I thought it would be a change.

nuttybuddy, my one trip over was to visit a friend who was a JET on Shikoku, deep inaka. Very relaxed place, nice people, probably a great place to go that not a lot of people request. Gambatte!
