I went to all the workshops and stuff...but I will admit I skipped out on the lecture the first morning after the break. It really just came down to the fact that I was bored, and wanted to just get out and walk around for a bit. Although, it was fucking hot though...

Also...I think there are cities better than Tokyo...I think Fukuoka is much cooler. I prefered Osaka and Kyoto to Tokyo as well...^^

Tokyo is cool, just too many Gaijin.

Drunk americans trying to pick up natives,
Horrible people trying to get me into their clubs.
    JETs,
Fucking Otaku morons trying to buy anime crap.

Tokyo Taxi drivers are cool though.

I had a good few more than that in my head since it took me 8/9 to get to the Middle Eat

    Lol!

    Well done!

These are indeed quite informative. All the necessary information is already there, defeating the purpose of actually attending the seminars :P

    cheers!

i went to all but two of the seminars in tokyo. flying from south africa to tokyo is shit because we have the jetlag thing, plus the middle-of-winter to middle-of-summer thing to contend with. so during those two lectures, i was about to collapse and just went to my room to sleep.

i went to everything else because, like others have said, it is a job, and you are being paid to be there. my conscience means that if there's stuff to do for my job and i'm not doing it, i feel like shit.

i also went to every lecture at the recontracting conference, despite the rather disgusting hangover.

but then, i am a nerd. so whatever. :P

I dunno, I didn't think it could get much worse than this. :P A 14 hour red-eye flight and then a 12.5 hour time difference...it makes me sleepy just to think about it! I guess the best thing to do is stay awake on the plane and hope we arrive during the evening in Tokyo.

    +1

But the same thing is true of little inaka towns like Okayama City.

Only cool thing about Tokyo is Akihabara and the maid massage parlours and maid cafes . Other than that, it's shit.
I'd go to a maid cafe! That'd be hillarious.

Be warned, they are quite expensive. And you'll be competing with hardcore otakus to get the attention of the maids. My friend summed it up best: it was 'kimoi' and 'itai'.

Though, it is an opportunity everyone must experience once in their lives

They look like they're having fun? Gaijin comes in, gets his foot massaged, actually has a personality?

The average Japanese person who comes in would probably just grunt a few times.

I just find it quite a depressing job regardless

You know you've been reading too much BD when you fully expect that these massage pics are going to be NSFW... much to my disappointment.

i second that statement... i'm sure they were actually happy that some gaijin came in who wasn't some perverted japanese otaku
