    Default Nauseating Kanji!

This is a popular regular in our local gaijin rag so let's sharing our nauseating kanji eh?

    First up

    關西

    カンサイ

The old way of writing Kansai. I know it because ive caught a plane from Hong Kong to Osaka a few times.

    And you?

会議 The kai obviously isn't a problem, but in the time it takes to write "gi" I could have written an entire haiku.

I don't know what it is about this fucking kanji, but I always end up writing it backwards, forgetting how to start writing it, which lines cross where, etc. hate it.

I know. The components themselves aren't difficult, but I always get the balance wrong when I write it. And it just seems to rub the meaning in my face. Bastard kanji.

為. I have never been able to write this kanji properly. It's such a weird shape, I can never work out what bit you're supposed to write first.

I'm not telling... in this post. If most of y'all don't know how to look up stroke order, I figure there's a bunch of other nerdy things that I've figured out that you all haven't

Look for a new post in a couple minutes.

Yea i hate that kanji too.

It always comes out silly looking.

But then it is a bit of a silly looking kanji in the first place.

Well luckily I don't need to write 偽善者 all that often.

Okay, my thread is finished. Go venture over to it and have a look

yea actually you're right. They always come really spazzed out when I write them too.

Especially as radicals. I just cannot get 案 to look nice.

I finally got 機 to come out like it wasn't written by a 3 year old today so i was rather pleased with myself.

Heheh, so it's a kanji you hate thread? Cool.

I used to find 女 hard to write, but then I discovered a better stroke order. Do the horizontal stroke 2nd instead of last. Works every time for me and looks mint.

Does anyone like 為? Actually I like the look of it but drawing it is a right pain.

A kanji I really hate is 飛, no matter how hard I try I can never remember the stroke order properly and get it to look right, it always looks like I've drawn it drunk whilst cycling blindfolded.

Another kanji I can never get to look right is 心, made worse by the fact the hand written way to draw it looks even worse. Surprisingly this kanji squished inside another kanji is fine for some reason, I'm a grand master at writing ふ, but on its own, there's so much space for you to cock it up and make it look crappy. The only thing worse is 必

My kanji hate today was directed toward

    飛ぶ tobu - to fly.

Hate the bastard. Its a simple enough kanji but its just ugly whenever i write it.

It's especially fucky when it's with its cousin bastard kanji

    飛行機 - hikouki - aeroplane

    Hate them.

    Chinese?

Dombay to JTE while keeping straight face: 先生、すみません、この漢字の意味...ちょっと分からないんですが...

Actually that reminds me of one time i was in Macau and wanted to get a taxi to the airport. Aeroporto says I in Portuguese, my mate stretches out his arms like a plane and makes buzzing sounds.

"Airport, mate?" says the taxi driver in Queens English.

i saw 為 in a bus today. still have absolutely no idea what it means, but i thought it was neat. :P

kanji that bug me... 留 took me for ever to be able to write decently. the little bit in the top left corner screws me every time.

i quite like 心. i seem to be able to do it fairly decently.

i'm still getting used to 達. all the horizontal lines in it make me draw it way bigger than anything else in the sentence. especially cuz 友 can be written really small. :P the two together just end up looking retarded.

友達? Just write 友人 ゆうじん means the same thing and is easier to write.

Was it attached to another kanji, or on its own? If it was on its own, it means "tame", which means "to", as in "I came to Japan to get laid", or "for", as in "I am beating my brains out for the JLPT."

Otherwise, here are some words that it's in:
If it was the first kanji
If it was the last kanji
