    Default Showtime, Canada

    From the Canadian JET website:

"The first stage of the screening process has been completed and letters regarding the interviews are in the mail. Please allow at least two weeks for delivery. If you are a Canadian JET applicant and you have not received a letter by Tuesday, January 29th, 2008, please contact the JET Desk at the Embassy of Japan in Ottawa. Dates and locations for interviews across Canada are posted on the “updates” page. If you have been granted an interview you will be contacted with specific information by the embassy or relevant consulate in the near future."

    Are you READY!?

I'll be stalking my mailbox for the next 3 days then

Though... recently, my gut has been telling me that I won't be making it to the interview stage (and it's usually has a pretty accurate prediction!)

    But good luck fellow Canadians!!!

Hah, I've been on pins and needles since the beginning of the week (as the website said vaguely that the time period in which we'd receive the letters was mid-January to the end of January). I'll be on extra-high alert now! :P

No kidding! I hate interviews -- especially when I have to act all happy-go-lucky, when I'm really scared to death.

I received my letter today too.... and will be having an interview. I wasn't too worried about getting an interview, but I'm glad I know 100% now.

I scanned the letter if anyone is curious to read it.

interac isn't bad, I knew many people who went through them. They are kind of selective too with decent benefits. Once you arrive in Japan you can always shop around, maybe try teaching at an international school once you get some teaching experience under your belt. Sorry to hear you didn't get an interview though.

sorry to hear that you didn't get an interview, pangsiu. But I'm sure whatever backup plan you have would work out.

Hey, lazarus, what did I tell you? I predict not only that you will get in, but that you'll get your 1st placement choice too - what is it? Seriously, the best SoP I read this year.
piangsu - there are still plenty of private ALT jobs in Japan - try gaijinpot.com (but most of them you have to already be here). Don't be too disappointed - you gave it your best shot, and unlike FK, I actually think getting through the written application part is the hardest. Once they see you, you have a chance to sell yourself in person. Written applications is about a 20% chance you'll get an interview. Once you get one, you have a 50% chance of making it or at least being alternated.
    And... there's always next year!

I reckon you're in, too... though may be alternated for a short time first.

Well your words of encouragement convinced me to ask my dad to re-schedule my ticket once I find out my interview date. Hopefully the interview will be fairly easy too. I'm not a shy, timid, mumbler or low speaker in interviews, so I shouldn't have an issue there. (I hear that is like 50% of the battle) Basically all I need to do now is review some of the questions they typically ask and have good answers.
