Default Really useful online stores for JETs stuck in Japanland.

I think most of us order stuff online from time to time, for those things that we can't live without, and just can't get in Japan and folk link stores in various threads, so I thought I'd collate them into one thread.

Post other relevant stores that I've missed and I'll add it to the list. We'll stick to stores that deliver to Japan for now (cos this is for people who get here and go "Aaah, I can't get any X here! I need to order some!" ) selling stuff you can't get in Japan, but feel free to link stores that you think are neat anyway.

    General
http://www.theflyingpig.com - English - A 3rd party site that send you stuff from Costco here in Japan.
http://www.fbcusa.com/eng/ - English - Foreign Buyers' Club. Just like Flying Pig.
http://www.expatexpress.com - English - "Non-perishable foods shipped from Utah. Can be expensive, but it's much faster than FBC. Pretty wide selection, but a wonky search engine makes it better to just browse the site, in my opinion. They also offer a service where you can order things from places that don't ship internationally, have them sent there, then they will send them along to you."

    Food & drink.
http://www.themeatguy.jp - Japanese/English. - "For all your meat needs. Run by an American, but also has meat pies and baked beans to meet your limey needs, not to mention a pretty wide selection of dry goods, cheeses, etc. Cheap flat shipping fee."
http://www.ezo-beer.com/eng/index_e.html - Japanese/English - "Real beer! Offering microbrews from Oregon and Japan, as well as imports from Scotland, Belgium and Holland."
http://www.edoya-net.co.jp/ - Japanese only. - "for all your bulk dried fruit/nut needs."

    Books/music.
http://www.amazonco.jp - Japanese, some English. - Amazon Japan. Look up a book's ISBN on amazon.com, then search for it on .jp. Free shipping over 1500円.
    http://www.amazon.com - English - Amazon, US.

    Electronics & videogames.
http://www.play-asia.com/ - Japanese/English - Japan-based video game seller/importer. If you're unsure that a US game will work on your Jap console, or you want to know if a Jap game has English, they usually have the relevant information.

    Clothing.
    http://www.oddball.com/cascades/ - English - Oversized US shoes (13>)

    Misc
http://www.sleepnaked.net - English - Cheap, western sized bedding. Does not involve transexuals.

    Good idea!

I haven't actually used this, but it's been recommended to me:

http://www.fbcusa.com/eng/ - same deal as flyingpig, but with a bit of a wider selection in some areas.

Another link I read isn't really for shipping stuff over, but a general hint, tip, and trick site for people living in Japan.

This was recommended on ITIL. Not buying, but bookswapping.
    www.bookmooch.com
For sending gifts to people in Australia I've used
www.giftsaustralia.com (does not deliver outside of Australia) - e.g. my best friend had a baby boy last Friday and I sent her a bottle of Moet (same as for her other two boys).

neat for link for aus Wicket, but I guess we'll stick to stuff that can be delivered to Japan, for JET's to use themselves.

I need to find an online shoe store that delivers here... in normal human sizes...

Thanks for the links. Super helpful for when I get those American food cravings and such.

The other day I found Hormel Chili, which was super exciting for me. Made a great bowl of Hormel Chili with cream cheese, cheese and then ate it with some restaurant style tortilla chips...Ahh...it was like a taste of home.

I've never done it, but it would be useful if you don't have a relative or friend willing to do that for you.

http://www.ezo-beer.com/eng/index_e.html - Real beer! Offering microbrews from Oregon and Japan, as well as imports from Scotland, Belgium and Holland. Rogue wasn't my favorite Oregon microbrewery before I came here, but it's like sweet ambrosia compared to the monotony of Japanese domestics.

Also, don't forget about http://www.amazon.co.jp/ Look up a book's ISBN on amazon.com, then search for it on .jp. Free shipping over 1500円.

Well, this is kind of the other end of the spectrum, but if you're a US size 13 or above, you can order from http://www.oddball.com/cascades/ . They're based in America, but I've ordered from them a couple times since I've been here. They also have Big and Tall apparel that actually comes close to being fashionable! It gets pretty expensive after shipping/tariffs, but at size 16 I don't have much of a choice.

for all your bulk dried fruit/nut needs. I got tired of paying like 300 yen per walnut, so this site was a godsend. I really recommend their almonds, jumbo raisins, dried papaya, and dried ripened mango.

    Clothing and shoes...

www.victoriassecret.com - not just for lingerie, they do a massive range of clothing, athletic wear, shoes (brands such as guess, sketchers, bcbg...) and I even think some makeup etc. Women only sorry, but Im sure the guys would be happy to browse...

www.strawberrynet.com - discount branded cosmetics, pretty much every brandof perfume, cologne, skincare, haircare you would want, at great discount prices. They ship very fast from hongkong and even giftwrap! Narni will back me up on this site, its awesome!

www.cloggs.co.uk - not sure this is the proper address but something like that. Andrew just bought some Merrels from there, they do a lot of different shoe brands in many sizes

    Dem videogames!

    http://www.play-asia.com

Not always the best option for importing games, but usually the most conveinent and shipping is free to Japan for most items.

I totally agree! I also agree with Bookmooch, though try send round to us poor Japanese people and not the USA people as they seldom send our way (bastards)
