How on earth do people manage to buy clothes over the internet? When I go clothes shopping in person, I might be an XL in one store and a S in the next. And don't even get me started on shoes. Before I left for Japan I spent a solid WEEK going around my city and the one a few hours away in search of ANY pair of sneakers that would fit properly.

yeah i hate it but there isnt much that can be done. i been here 4 years and only been home once. if i need some new clothes, i just look at the brand and sizes that i am currently wearning and order almost exact same things. not much for originality but keeps the not-fitting-clothes to a minimum.

So has anyone recently used the MyUS.com service? I'm a bit wary for some reason, but thinking of using them for a Zappos order...

be very very careful ordering drugs on the net and having them shipped to japan. If they can not be bought in japan there is probably a good reason and could very well be illegal. and trying to play dumb if you get caught is not a good enough reason to get you off the hook. BE CAREFUL.

What about drugs that are available in Japan, but ordering stronger versions? For example, japanese ibuprofen tablets seem to be 150mg, whereas american and british tablets are 200mg.

To people who shop on strawberryNET - I made an order with them and they requested to send them a bill or something indicating my adress or something of the sort. They say it is to see my card is valid...even though they say first order is COD. What's up with that and what good is my bill all in Japanese going to do them?

What are the best classified ad sites for Japan ALTs? I`m in Yamaguchi and I need to try and sell my road bikes for the move home... Surely many others have found themselves in this situation...

For those with reliable friends/family in the US, you can avoid bullshit shipping fees/customs (drugstore.com / overstock.com) by having your stuff shipped to them in the States. Overstock.com offers $2.95 flat-rate shipping, and often has free-shipping deals, for instance.

Then have your friend slap a new address label on it and take it to the post office. Of course, you'll have to pay to have it shipped here, but it'll be 50-75% less than what you'd pay for shipping from the sites themselves.

On that note, www.overstock.com has some pretty useful stuff, particularly when it comes to bedding. I got a nice down comforter from them for about $35, as well as a Tommy sheet set for less than $20.

Like the flying pig it's a Costco Ikea distributor.

Nicest thing is if you're in Hokkaido they don't charge you extra for shipping!

No, you posted it over a month ago. This gentleman clearly thought the site required reiteration.
