Might as well get more detailed while we're at it...

    -gun: county
    -machi: town
    -cho: district
    -mura: village

These might come in handy too...

    -kokuritsu: national
    -kenritsu: prefectural
    -shiritsu (市立): municipal
    -shiritsu (私立): private
    -choritsu: town municipal
    -sonritsu: village municipal

Okay, but what about other suffixes, like -ku or -tachi?
Speaking of which, I've seen -ku attached to adjectives before (sabishiku/sabishiiku (whichever is correct/possible)). What's going on there?
Edit: a better example of which being 強く(tsuyoku).

They are still suffix-like. Suffixes that turn adjectives into adverbs.

LIke adding -ly to an english adjective.
